Chopin Birthday Party : FM 96.3 Concert

As the world honours its best-loved piano composer on Monday March 1, The New Classical 96.3FM is throwing open its doors and inviting music lovers to a FREE afternoon concert and birthday party for Romantic composer Frédéric Chopin. Live From The Concert Lobby presents Avan Yu, rising-star Canadian pianist and winner of the Canadian Chopin Competition in a Chopin-filled recital, followed by a lunch reception. There will be prizes, balloons, and cake with lots of candles!

The poet of the piano, Frédéric Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola, Poland on March 1, 1810. He was a piano prodigy and in his short lifetime of 39 years he wrote more than 200 works including Nocturnes, Études, Polonaises, and Waltzes, dedicating most of them to his friends and students. Reflected in the intimate quality of his music, Chopin preferred performing in salons and homes over public concerts in large venues. It is only fitting that this great composer be paid tribute to in the intimate setting of the Concert Lobby at The New Classical 96.3FM, Canada’s only all-classical music radio station.
